Welteroth’s departure leaves three hosts – Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots and Jerry O’Connell – in place of Welterth who has been there only nine months as she replaced fellow host Julie Chen during her maternity break before working alongside Sharon Osbourne to replace Aisha Tyler following an acrimonious exit from the show which led some fans upset over seeing former member Leah Remini (who left amidst drama) return while other members were removed.
Welteroth had a breakout year while hosting “The Teen Vogue Summit” and she has been selected to take on the role of co-host in September 2020. “It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented” Welteroth said about her new job opportunity.
Welteroth will be the only co-host who was with her show since its 2020-21 season. The 2021-22 season is set to launch on Sept 13th, and Welterroth joined in January of 2019. “It’s an absolute honor for anyone but especially a young Black woman to occupy space where our perspectives are largely underrepresented,” said Welterroth about being able to stay true as herself through this process before facing national audiences every day.”
The producers of the show “The Talk” said, “We wish Elaine all the best. We are grateful for her passion and enthusiasm she brought to our daily production – we always appreciated how open and honest with us she was in conversations.”
Welteroth is a former Teen Vogue editor and serves as a judge on Bravo’s Project Runway. She joined The Talk in January following Eve’s departure, alongside Kloots who also joined the show that month. In March of this year, Sharon Osbourne — the last remaining original co-host— left after she defended her friend Piers Morgan during an outburst where he called Meghan Markle “a liar and worse.”
On March 10, the show went on hiatus amidst allegations from previous co-hosts Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete that Osbourne had made racist comments off air. During this tense exchange between Morgan and Underwood about racism, she asked him to “educate” her about it.
After a few weeks of taking time off for these accusations against Osbourne, Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour resumed its normal schedule with an episode featuring Trace Adkins where they discussed their love for hunting as well as Adkins’ experience being raised by his father in rural Kentucky during the 1960s while also making note how times have changed since then due to technology advancements such as social media becoming so popular today
